In this essay i will be explaining the summary, also the author’s point of view, the values that I found and also the anti values.  So this is a story written by Elizabeth Gaskell that is called Christmas storms and sunshine. So this story starts with a confrontation between two important families that are the Jenkins and the Hodgsons. Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Hodgson are the two compositors of the main English newspaper in the town, Mr hodgson was the creator of the Examiner and Mr. Jenkins was the creator of the flying post so that’s why they are always fighting because they want to have the best newspaper. Values fairness and justice applied to A Modest Proposal. First we must understand the meaning of these two values. Fairness is the quality of making judgments that are free from discrimination. Justice is the quality of being impartial and fair but also is an action that is morally right and fair. These values are actually very similar but the difference between them is that fairness is about having a proper perspective and justice is about having the right thing done. Values trustworthness and thankful applied to From The Diary Of Samuel Pepys.   First of all we must be clear about the meaning of these two values. Trustworthiness that consists in the ability to be relied on as honest and truthful. Thankful consists in expressing gratitude and relief. At the beginning of the story I didn’t see the presence of these two values even in the characters because it starts talking about the coronation of the king and all the things that he had and for me that is very individualistic because it only talks about him.
